Thursday: Opening General Session with Theresa Payton AND Dr. Craig Venter
Join us for an inspiring and informative Opening General Session. You’ll hear from NAILBA Chairman Jim Sorebo about NAILBA’s recent progress, and you’ll be introduced to NAILBA’s new CEO.

We’ll also enjoy a keynote presentation by the first female to serve as White House chief information officer, Theresa Payton. She is one of America’s most respected authorities on Internet security, data breaches and fraud mitigation. With real-world strategies and solutions, she helps public and private sector organizations protect their most valuable resources. As the star of the new CBS TV series, “Hunted,” Theresa identifies emerging trends and techniques to help combat cyber threats, from the impact of the Internet of Things to securing Big Data. Join us at NAILBA 36 for Theresa Payton’s Opening General Session keynote, “Big Data, Behavior Analytics, OSINT & the Internet of Things.”

After Payton’s keynote address, we’ll enjoy an update from our colleagues at Life Happens, followed by a second keynote presentation by Dr. Craig Venter. Craig Venter, a biologist renowned for his contributions in sequencing the first draft human genome in 2001, is co-founder, executive chairman, and Head of Scientific Strategy of Human Longevity Inc. He is also founder, executive chairman and CEO of the J. Craig Venter Institute and co-founder, chairman, and co-chief scientist chairman of Synthetic Genomics Inc.

Dr. Venter is a recipient of the 2008 National Medal of Science and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He is the author of Life at the Speed of Light: From the Double Helix to the Dawn of Digital Life (Viking, 2013) and A Life Decoded: My Genome: My Life (Viking, 2007).

Join us at NAILBA 36 for Dr. Venter's Opening General Session keynote as he examines the affects that genome research will have on medical underwriting and the life insurance business.

We are grateful to Global Atlantic Financial Group for their generous sponsorship of the Opening General Session.

Thursday: Opening Reception
Complimentary to all registered participants, the Opening Reception is the best brokerage networking event of the year! Thanks to Nationwide's generous sponsorship, you'll be wining and dining with people you've worked with for years, and people you need to know but haven't met yet. This event, open and free to all registrants, is a relaxed and fun get together that has been compared to a business-style family reunion!

Friday: General Session
Join us for Friday's General Session, featuring the State of the Foundation address from President Alan Protzel, 2017 NAILBA Charitable Foundation Donor Recognition, 2017 Foundation Grantee Video and Felton Grant Recognition.

We'll close the Friday General Session with a keynote from Mark King, “Lessons in Leadership: Competing with Creativity.” Mark King believes growth is a cultural mindset that must be infused into the culture of every organization. He believes in setting big dreams and allowing people to drive the “how.” Throughout his career, he has learned that companies must drive talent-wide organizations and create environments that allow and encourage everyone to lead organizational and industry change.

As president of adidas Group North America, Mark King oversees adidas in the U.S. and Canada and is responsible for driving the business and culture. Mark began his current role in June 2014. King has a long and successful track record with the adidas Group. He was with TaylorMade for 34 years, beginning his career in the early 1980s as territory sales representative. The adidas Group acquired TaylorMade in 1997 and King was elevated to president in 1999 and then CEO in 2002. Under King’s leadership from 1999 to 2013, TaylorMade became the leading and most profitable golf company in the world, with sales increasing from $300 million to $1.7 billion.

Recently, King led the adidas turnaround in North America, driving market share growth and creating a new energy for the business and culture. In 2016, Yahoo! named adidas “Sports Business of the Year” and Highsnobiety called adidas the “Most Relevant Brand”. Footwear News named King “2016 Person of the Year” and Portland Business Journal named him “2016 Executive of the Year”. King was named one of Sports Business Journal’s 50 Most Influential People in Sports Business in 2015.

Keep the momentum going, join us for the Friday General Session!

Friday: Mooers Award Reception with Foundation Live Auction and Mooers Award Dinner and After Dinner Dance Party
Bring your checkbook and your enthusiasm! The NAILBA Charitable Foundation Live Auction has been reunited with the Mooers Award Reception, making this one of the most exciting events you can enjoy in black-tie. Prepare yourself to be in awe of professional auctioneer Steve Katz from NAILBA member agency Premier Brokerage Services, as he leads us through the bidding of many exciting auction prizes. Bidding is fast-paced and very competitive - you don’t want to miss this, whether you plan to participate as a bidder or a spectator.

The 2017 Mooers Award recipient will be recognized at NAILBA 36 during a surprise announcement at the Douglas H. Mooers Award Dinner on FRIDAY, November 17! The black-tie dinner, featuring entertainment by Alonzo Bodden, is included in the price of registration*! The attire for this formal event is black-tie optional, so black/dark suits are acceptable, as are cocktail gowns or evening dresses.

After the Mooers Award Toast, stick around for dancing and socializing with your fellow NAILBA 36 attendees. Featuring a live band and sizable dance floor, there's plenty of room and plenty of reason to have a good time! Check back here for more details as plans progress!

NAILBA is grateful for the support of Pacific Life for their sponsorship of the Mooers Award Reception and Entertainment. This year’s Mooers Award toast will be provided by Pacific Life at the conclusion of the Awards Dinner.

Saturday: Closing General Session
Featuring the incoming Chairman's address from Jeffrey Mooers, the NAILBA Annual Business Meeting and a State of the Industry Panel of your brokerage industry peers, the Closing General Session will send participants back to their offices with a clear vision of the future of brokerage.

Life Happens: Life Insurance Awareness Month and Real Life Stories
LIAM resources and an opportunity to recognize a producer you work with!

LIAM Resources
Life Happens has a wide range of LIAM resources, including those featuring race car driver, professional athlete and LIAM spokesperson Danica Patrick. She’s a strong advocate for life insurance, and this year has a new message to get the word out: “As a race car driver and athlete, being fit is important to me. But fitness extends to all parts of your life, including your finances. And when it comes to being financially fit, getting life insurance is key.”

You can use these resources featuring Danica Patrick to get the message out:

  • 3 videos featuring 3 variations/lengths of Danica's financial fitness message
  • 3 downloadable flyers with these financial fitness messages from Danica
  • downloadable up-close-and-personal interview with Danica, which can be shared or used as a “news” article
  • a suite of social-media quote graphics featuring her wise words—some that are animated!
  • cover photos for your social-media properties
  • and a special industry message promoting LIAM, and more

But that’s just the beginning of the LIAM resources.

  • 3 brand new Real Life Stories—now with a long or short version of the flyer for you to chose from, as well as eye-catching quote graphics to promote them
  • 6 new financial fitness flyers that are targeted to specifics demographics, with diverse imagery
  • more than 2 dozen new social-media graphics, including 2017 Insurance Barometer stats, quote graphics, life hints and more
  • a 6-week calendar of prewritten Facebook posts and tweets—just copy and paste! It also allows you and the producers you work with to get LIAM social off the ground in August
  • and MUCH MORE!

PLUS, as you reach out to home-office employees and the producers you work with about the LIAM campaign, you can use our industry resource including our prewritten, customizable LIAM articles, a marketing tactics document and a great industry message where Danica speaks from the heart about why LIAM is so important. You can also watch it immediately here: company.lifehappenspro.org/spokesperson.

For access to all these great LIAM resources go to https://company.lifehappenspro.org/liam. Questions about Life Happens or Life Insurance Awareness? Visit www.lifehappens.org.

How Has a Producer You Work With Helped Save a Family or Business?
Each year insurance carriers and NAILBA BGAs have the opportunity to have one of their producers highlighted in the annual Real Life Stories Client Service Recognition Program that Life Happens coordinates. It’s a great way to get both the producer and the company highlighted and recognized.

Life Happens is now accepting entries for the 2018 Real Life Stories Client Service Recognition Program. This annual program highlights compelling stories of the role insurance has played in helping families and businesses in times of great financial need, and the agents or advisors who have helped them.

There are thousands of stories each year where an agent or advisor has made all the difference. We’d love to highlight one from your company.

Encourage the insurance professionals you work with to share their life, disability or long-term care insurance success stories via the Real Life Stories application, which will be evaluated by an independent judging panel. The four winning stories will be featured through Life Happens' national consumer educational awareness campaigns.

To enter, insurance professionals must complete an application form, as well as an essay describing their Real Life Stories. The application is at www.lifehappens.org/reallife and rules can be viewed here. The deadline to submit an entry is October 31, 2017 at 4:00 pm ET.

Please contact Andrea Englert at aenglert@lifehappens.org with any questions.

What a reinforcement of your message this will be as it is scheduled to mail in early November!  After your message is introduced in Perspectives, it will be strengthened by appearing in our Product Preview Guide.  Just a wonderful support for your marketing efforts allowing you to emphasize the effectiveness of your product!

If you have not yet secured advertising space in the Product Preview Guide, it’s not too late – AND.. . . it’s only available to contracted exhibitors and sponsors.

Ad contract deadline is September 15 and the artwork deadline is Friday, September 29.

Affiliate Hotel Contracts Deadline - Extended
Due to Hurricane Irma, the Diplomat has been closed since last week. If you have a block of rooms held for NAILBA 36, and you have not submitted your Affiliate Contract and payment, please wait until you receive word from our Meetings Specialist, Candy Coons, that the hotel has reopened. Promotional Opportunities Guide: Sponsorships, Exhibits, Advertising and NEW Event Advertising
The 2017 Promotional Opportunities Guide has literally DOZENS of new opportunities for you to marshal your marketing dollars in support of the brokerage community.

NEW THIS YEAR: we have separated Event Advertising from Sponsorships to more clearly identify opportunities at the Annual Meeting where NAILBA co-branding is not necessary.  Are you launching a new product, rolling out a new campaign, or simply like seeing your company’s name displayed in ten foot high letters? Then Event Advertising is for you! Check out what’s available in Event Advertising here. (Event Advertising was formerly known as Unique-to-Venue “sponsorships”).

NAILBA offers 5 different digital platforms for ad space: NAILBA Now (this bi-weekly e-newsletter), nailba.org, NAILBA 36 Event site, NAILBA 36 Exhibit Hall Website and NAILBA Network (our member-centric online community). Please refer to the Online Advertising section of the 2017 Promotional Opportunities Guide for prices and ad specifications.

Package print, event, and online advertising for greater exposure and discount opportunities! Please refer to the Advertising tab in the 2017 Promotional Opportunities Guide for details about online, print, and unique-to-venue (event) advertising opportunities. This section also includes an ALL NEW Creative Opportunities area! Contact Ellen Toups (etoups@nailba.org or 703.383.3076) to discuss advertising options and package discounts.

2018 Perspectives Advertising
We are now accepting contracts for the January through October issues of Perspectives for 2018. If you are interested in securing premium placement, please contact Ellen Toups immediately at etoups@nailba.org. Existing advertisers will be offered first right of refusal, but to ensure that you are first “in line” if an existing placement is not renewed, Ellen will need to hear from you now (etoups@nailba.org or 703.383.3076)!

NAILBA 36 Exhibits
The NAILBA 36 Exhibit hall is more than 80% sold! If you have not yet committed to participating as an exhibitor at NAILBA 36, your booth selection options are becoming more limited as the weeks pass. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to showcase your product or service Where the Brokerage Industry Meets.

Please refer to the Exhibits section of the 2017 Promotional Opportunities Guide for details about exhibiting and an exhibit application and contract.

NAILBA 36 Sponsorships
NEW THIS YEAR: NAILBA is proud to recognize our sponsors based on their level of support. We have reorganized the sponsorship opportunities based on price, to help you bundle sponsorships in a way that allows your company to ensure they earn the recognition level that matches your marketing goals. In addition, we are offering events that are scheduled multiple times (breakfasts, lunches, breaks, workshops) in a first-come/first-chosen basis. For example, if your company is the first to contract to sponsor a lunch, you will decide first which lunch you are sponsoring.

Please refer to the Sponsor section of the 2017 Promotional Opportunities Guide for details about sponsorship opportunities.

Do you need an electronic version of the entire Guide? Here’s the link to the downloadable version of the 2017 Promotional Opportunities Guide! Questions? Contact Alex Yewdell  or Keegan Hudson at sales@nailba.org  or 202.337.1897.

NAILBA 36: New sponsorship opportunities
Wish you could do a session of all your own? We have resurrected Product Training University – on Saturday morning. This exclusive 30-minute “workshop” gives existing exhibitors and sponsors an opportunity to connect with clients and prospects directly to highlight your product/service. Limited opportunities are available to help you maximize your audience. Don’t delay! NAILBA will promote your session by including it in the Annual Meeting marketing ensuring there’s recognition of your support of the Annual Meeting and the brokerage community. Your company can invite and promote to your own clients and prospects to garner the audience and capitalize on the opportunity. Customary audio visual and breakfast is included. To make an investment in these or any other sponsorship opportunities, contact Alex Yewdell or Keegan Hudson at sales@nailba.org or Ellen Toups at etoups@nailba.org.
