The Silent Auction is open!!

Did you know that the Silent and Live Auctions are the primary fundraising events for each year’s grant funding? The Foundation recently awarded $230,000 in grant funding to charities supported by the brokerage community and Life Happens.


To ensure that we are able to continue giving at this level, we need your help as we prepare to launch the Auction! With both Silent (online) and Live (at the Annual Meeting) components, the Auction affords you – the members of the brokerage community – multiple ways to support the NAILBA Charitable Foundation – often at little or no extra cost to you*!

 Do you have extra or VIP tickets to a live performance? Does your company have season tickets to a local sports team, symphony, or amusement park – can you share one game/performance?

  • Can you provide a unique experience – a sailing or cruise adventure, hot air balloon ride, access to the Chef’s table, a week or a weekend at your beach house/mountain cabin, or something else that very few people might otherwise have access to?
  • Do you have an artistic hobby – are you a painter, a sculptor, a photographer, a quilter, a jewelry maker? Can you donate a piece of your artwork?
  • Do you have access to entertainment memorabilia? Autographed musical instruments, movie or TV scripts, or costumes?
  • Did you and your spouse buy each other (or realistically, your kids) the same iPad for your anniversary? The same cooking classes? The same concert tickets? Donate one of the duplicates!

Think outside the box – what do you have access to or extras of that one of your colleagues would enjoy? What a great opportunity to share your good fortune with your colleagues – all for the benefit of your Foundation!

The NAILBA Charitable Foundation is now collecting goods and services to be featured in the online Silent Auction and also at the Live Auction in November, during the Mooers Award Reception.

*We will also gratefully accept donations of money or miles to offset travel expenses to attend an out-of-town event or experience, or to support the purchase of items to be auctioned.

Advance registration for NAILBA 36 is now closed, but you can still register in Florida at the meeting! On-site registration will open on Wednesday, November 15. For on-site registration fees, check the Registration page of the NAILBA 36 web site.

Need to send someone else to the meeting in your place since you broke your leg/have a project due/ forgot your anniversary? No problem! Simply send an email to with your name and the substituted registrant’s name, and we’ll make the switch

NAILBA 36: Did you reserve a hotel room and forget to register?
Register this week or your room will be charged at a higher rate!

If you are holding a reservation in the NAILBA room block and are NOT registered for NAILBA 36, your reservation will be removed from the block and the NAILBA room rate will not be applicable. Your room rate will be the Diplomat’s “rack rate,” which is much higher. NAILBA and the hotel are currently reviewing registrations and reservations and will be in touch with individuals who have not yet registered to alert them that their room rate will be changing!

Saturday Closing General Session
Saturday morning’s Closing General Session is going to be jam-packed with new information and lots of changes! Incoming Chairman Jeff Mooers (yes! THAT GUY!) is going to start us off with an Incoming Chairman’s Address, where he lays out his vision for NAILBA in the next calendar year. THEN, we have our Annual Business Meeting, where you will get to meet our new Board members (hint: you’re going to be excited!).

Finally, we will close with a Panel Discussion that focuses on not just NAILBA’s vision, but the future of the brokerage community! Moderated by new NAILBA CEO Dan LaBert, we will look at the future of brokerage from NAILBA’s perspective (Jeff Mooers), from the Marketing Group perspective (Tim Klusas, The Marketing Alliance), then the Industry perspective (Warren May, Principal) and finally a wrap up from another industry association perspective (Marc Cadin, AALU, invited).  Gene Koster of DCG Consulting is working with this outstanding group of brokerage industry leaders to ensure that he and Dan are able to focus the panel’s discussions on the most relevant and important issues facing our industry.

The Mooers Award Dinner at NAILBA’s Annual Meeting is the most elegant and prestigious annual event for the brokerage community.  This year, we are introducing a new seating reservation system for the Mooers Dinner.

Companies (or marketing groups) (or friends) (or alumni from the Worst Job Ever) (literally any group of people who all want to sit together) with at least six attendees will be able to reserve tables in advance (this is in addition to Past Chairs, Past Mooers recipients, and the Board members serving NAILBA and the NAILBA Charitable Foundation).

Individuals and groups will select their seats when the doors open for the Mooers Award Dinner.

This year’s Life Brokerage Technology Committee meeting will be Wednesday, November 15, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm in Atlantic Ballroom 2 of the Diplomat Beach Resort, host hotel of NAILBA 36.  We have a great line up of topics and speakers. The LBTC Technology Survey has been condensed this year and should only take about 10 minutes to complete. We need it completed by Friday, October 27. Life Happens: Real Life Stories
Deadline for Story Submission: October 31!

How Has a Producer You Work With Helped Save a Family or Business?

Each year insurance carriers and NAILBA BGAs have the opportunity to have one of their producers highlighted in the annual Real Life Stories Client Service Recognition Program that Life Happens coordinates. It’s a great way to get both the producer and the company highlighted and recognized.

Life Happens is now accepting entries for the 2018 Real Life Stories Client Service Recognition Program. This annual program highlights compelling stories of the role insurance has played in helping families and businesses in times of great financial need, and the agents or advisors who have helped them.

There are thousands of stories each year where an agent or advisor has made all the difference. We’d love to highlight one from your company.

Encourage the insurance professionals you work with to share their life, disability or long-term care insurance success stories via the Real Life Stories application, which will be evaluated by an independent judging panel. The four winning stories will be featured through Life Happens' national consumer educational awareness campaigns.

To enter, insurance professionals must complete an application form, as well as an essay describing their Real Life Stories. The application is at and rules can be viewed here. The deadline to submit an entry is October 31, 2017 at 4:00 pm ET.

NAILBA 37: Exhibit Booth Sales
NAILBA 36 Exhibitors will have the opportunity to purchase booths for next year in November!

The main contact of each contracted exhibiting company at NAILBA 36 will be receiving an email from Ellen outlining the official process for reserving a booth for NAILBA 37. Booth selections, as always, will be processed in Priority Point Order; the first 40 companies on the Priority Point list will make their selections via telephone appointment before NAILBA 36. The remaining exhibitors will be able to reserve their space during NAILBA 37 Booth Selection on Friday, November 17, 10 am – 12 pm at the Diplomat Resort.

This exclusive 30-minute “workshop” gives existing exhibitors and sponsors an opportunity to connect with clients and prospects directly to highlight your product/service. Limited opportunities are available to help you maximize your audience. Don’t delay!

  • Your company can invite and promote to your own clients and prospects to garner the audience and capitalize on the opportunity. Customary audio visual and breakfast is included.


NAILBA 36: Meeting Space/Hospitality Suite/Sleeping Room Block Requests
An email was sent on February 23 to all main contacts of contracted exhibiting and sponsoring companies with information on how to reserve meeting space, hospitality suites, and sleeping room blocks (9+ rooms). The Affiliate Meeting Space/Sleeping Rooms/Suite Request Form is here, and further information about policies, deadlines, etc. were included in the email and are posted to the NAILBA 36 website. Included with the form are suite floor plans available to our group with specifications and group pricing. You must use this form and this process to reserve hospitality and meeting space at the hotel during NAILBA 36. The deadline to submit your request and have your space assigned in priority point order was April 21. Requests are still being processed on a first come first serve basis pending availability of space.

  • Notification of approved requests were sent out in May. Notifications advise what has been approved and provide contact information for the Diplomat Beach Resort so you may begin your planning process. Please do not contact the hotel directly – the hotel will not honor any requests that have not first been approved by NAILBA.
